This page explains what happens to your data when you visit snaplens.co or join my email list. It is written in plain English so you can actually read it.

Who runs this site

My name is Harsh. I run snaplens.co on my own. There is no company behind it, no team, and no staff. I am based in India.

You can reach me at harsh@heydevlaunch.com for anything to do with your data.

What this site does

I buy advertising to bring people to a landing page. On that page I offer a free guide. If you want the guide, you give me your first name and email address. I send you the guide, then a short automated series of emails about the same topic. After that I sometimes send occasional emails about other products in the same area.

Some of the links in those emails and on this site are affiliate links, which means I can earn a commission. That is explained in full on the affiliate disclosure page.

My marketing emails are sent from the domain heydevlaunch.com. If you see that name in your inbox, it is me.

What I collect when you sign up

When you submit the signup form, I store:

The name and email are what I use to write to you. The IP address is kept as the record of your consent, so I can show when and from where you signed up. The rest tells me which advert brought you here, so I know what is worth paying for.

How you give consent

Consent is single opt in. That means there is no confirmation email. When you type your name and email and press the button, you are on the list.

I am careful to make that clear before you press anything. Directly under the submit button there is a line telling you that you will get emails from me and that you can unsubscribe at any time. There is no tick box to pre-tick, because submitting the form is the act of consent and the line says exactly that.

You can withdraw that consent whenever you like. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, every page on the site links to the unsubscribe page, and you can just email me at harsh@heydevlaunch.com and ask.

Analytics

Analytics on this site are first party only. I built them myself and the data sits in my own database.

There is no Google Analytics, no third party analytics script, no advertising pixel, no retargeting tag, and no session recording.

For each page view I record:

That last one needs a word of explanation. A hash is a one way scramble. I mix your IP address with a secret value and run it through a hashing function, and I store only the scrambled result. I cannot turn it back into your IP address, and neither can anyone who gets hold of the database. Its only job is to let me count roughly how many different people looked at a page on a given day, rather than how many times the page was loaded.

Cookies

I do not set cookies for tracking. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, and no third party cookies. Because of that there is no cookie banner asking you to accept anything.

What I record about my emails

When I send you an email, I record whether it was opened and whether you clicked a link in it. This is standard email delivery data and it tells me which emails are worth sending.

Affiliate links in my emails and on the site go through a redirect on my own domain before sending you on to the product. That lets me see which email produced a click. It does not tell me anything about what you do after you land on the other company's website. Once you are there, their privacy policy applies, not mine.

Open tracking is not exact. If your email app blocks images, an open may not be recorded. I am telling you it happens rather than pretending it does not.

Who else handles your data

I use three services to run this. They hold or process your data on my behalf.

I do not sell your data. I do not rent it, share it with other marketers, or upload it to advertising platforms.

Where your data goes

I live and work in India, so I handle your data from India. My service providers are outside India as well, with Resend in the United States.

In plain language, that is an international transfer. If you are in the UK, the EU or Australia, your data leaves your country when you sign up, and it is stored and read in places whose privacy laws are not the same as yours. I am telling you this up front so you can decide whether you are comfortable with it. If you are not, please do not sign up, and if you already have, email me and I will delete you.

How long I keep things

I keep your subscriber record for as long as you are on my list.

When you unsubscribe, I do not delete everything straight away. I keep a small suppression record, which is enough to recognise your email address and make sure nothing is ever sent to you again. Deleting it entirely would mean that if your address came back to me from somewhere else, I would have no way of knowing you had asked me to stop. I keep that suppression record for as long as I am running the list, because that is what it is for.

Page view records are analytics. They contain a hashed IP address and no name or email, so they are not linked to you as a person, and I keep them to see how the site performs over time.

I am not going to quote you a fixed number of days as though it were a promise, because that would be made up. The principle is simple. I keep what I need for as long as I need it, and if you ask me to delete your data I delete it.

Your rights if you are in the UK

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

My legal basis for sending you email is your consent, which you gave on the signup form. My legal basis for the first party analytics is my legitimate interest in knowing whether my own website works, which is why that data is hashed and not tied to your name.

Your rights if you are in Australia

The Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act give you the right to ask for access to the personal information I hold about you, and to ask me to correct it if it is wrong. You can make either request by emailing me.

If you are not happy with how I have handled your information or your complaint, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Everyone else

If you live somewhere that is not the UK or Australia, you have the same rights with me in practice. I will honour an access, correction or deletion request from anyone, anywhere, without asking where you live or making you prove you qualify. It is easier for both of us that way.

How to get your data deleted

Three ways, all of them work:

  1. Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email I send you. It is one click and it takes effect immediately.
  2. Use the unsubscribe page, which is linked from every page on this site.
  3. Email me at harsh@heydevlaunch.com and ask me to delete your data. Say what you want, and I will do it and reply to confirm.

If you want your data deleted rather than just unsubscribed, say so in the email and I will remove the record instead of suppressing it.

Security

Your data sits with Resend, Neon and Vercel, all of which use encrypted connections and standard access controls. I am the only person with access to the database and the email account.

I am one person, not a bank. I do not claim to be certified, audited or accredited for anything, because I am not. I ask for a first name and an email address, which is the least I can ask for and still write to you.

Changes to this page

If what I do with data changes, I will change this page and update the date at the top.

One last note

This page is a description of how this site handles your data, written as plainly as I can manage. It is not legal advice, to you or to anyone else. If you need a legal opinion about your own rights or your own website, please speak to a qualified adviser in your own country.
